Byrd’s Chris Grant and Micah Minter sat a few feet apart in the school’s Learning Center on Wednesday morning not fully accepting the fact they’ll soon be headed in opposite directions and becoming bitter rivals.

That happens when you’re 18 years old with a bright future in front of you.

The two football standouts were part of a five-member signing class of Yellow Jackets that attracted a room full of supporters, family and classmates.

While Grant is headed to Grambling State University to play for coach Broderick Fobbs in the tiny town of Grambling, Minter inked with SWAC rival Texas Southern and can’t wait for the bright lights of Houston.
